Newham and Tower Hamlets Aspiring Medic's Day
Kicking off from where our fabulous outreach team last stopped, we held our 3rd Aspiring Medic’s Day of the year on June 5th, this time for both Newham & Tower Hamlets!
Students from both boroughs had the opportunity to join an event which covered many topics of interest, including admission tests, interviews, and getting the grades / applying to medical school.
As per our custom for Aspiring Medic’s Days, we invited physicians and medical students to shed light on their day-to-day lives in their respective careers, their motivations to enter medicine, and advice to impart to aspiring medics.
The event was positively received, with a few examples of what the participants enjoyed about the day:
“Hearing from medical students who have passed the level that I am trying to get into, and hearing about what they do, and I also enjoyed speaking to a surgeon about gender inequalities.”
“Learning the structure of a personal statement and the UCAT and BMAT.”
“Talking with medical students about their experiences.”
“Learning basic skills that are needed for the medical field and hearing from people's experiences in the panel talk.”
We would like to thank our participants and speakers for making this Aspiring Medic’s Day a success, and we look forward to welcoming you to our next talk; stay tuned for further updates!
On behalf of the TAMS Outreach Team, thank you!
