Enfield Aspiring Medic's Day
“Firstly, I think the opportunity to ask current Med students who have been in similar positions was really good. Especially students that perhaps didn’t have the “best profile” for medicine. That to me is really inspiring. And I loved the encouragement given by the team. The session was very informative but what I found to be really good was the attitude given. As we know, there are a range of teachers and individuals that do discourage many people from pursuing competitive careers like medicine however the encouragement from your team does put less stress on your mind. I think it’s important that you reminded students that they could apply to medicine and could do it regardless of their academic or social background.” - Student and Enfield Aspiring Medic’s Day attendee
I believe this student unconsciously summed up everything we stand for as a company when they were completing their feedback form.
Enfield Aspiring Medic’s Day was truly a success.
With more schools represented than ever before, students and teachers alike found the afternoon to be both informative and inspiring.
As this was our third ‘Aspiring Medic’s Day’, the team were able to learn from previous events and effectively organise what was undoubtedly the most enjoyable event thus far.
Chace Community School were excellent hosts and we look forward to building a sustainable partnership with all local local schools.
We also thank Rt Hon Joan Ryan MP for Enfield North (2015-19) for her kind words:
“ I pay tribute to the ‘The Aspiring Medic’s Support’ (TAMS) programme, which is widening access to careers in medicine to people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds.
I am delighted that the programme is coming to Enfield, with a workshop for students at Chace Community School.
It is really important for the future of our NHS that we widen participation in medicine so that bright and capable students, from Enfield and elsewhere, can train as doctors and nurses regardless of their socioeconomic status.”
